New Music Work’s Night of the Emerging Composers at UCSC. Opening Night of 8 Tens @ Eight at Actors’ Theatre. Returning to Actors’ Theatre for its 15th annual season, the hugely popular 8 Tens @ Eight festival of 10 minute plays highlights the work of eight different playwrights. The works represent a range of styles and subjects from stark realism to existential; from edgy comedy to deep drama. 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 3 p.m. Sundays through February 14. Comedian Will Durst at Kuumbwa. C-Span’s favorite comedian comes to Santa Cruz. Anthony B at Veterans Memorial. With 13 albums and more than 1,000 singles to his name, Jamaican artistAnthony B embodies all that it is spiritual and proactive about reggae. B-Side Players at Moe’s Alley. Get down on the dance floor with the borderless grooves of B-Side Players.
