Jean Luc Ponty Band at Kuumbwa. One of the premiere names in jazz violin, Jean Luc Ponty was among the first jazz artists to use an electric violin, and probably the first to shape its sound with digital and analog effects. Opening night of The Great Nebula in Orion and A Bethrothal. Pairing dialogue from Pulitzer prize-winning author Lanford Wilson with music by accomplished composer Kenneth Fuchs, Jewel Theatre presents two semi-comic chamber musicals: The Great Nebula in Orion and A Bethrothal. The duo present stories of friendship as a chance meeting of two old college friends reveals unexpected secrets, while competing flower-growers find an unexpected relationship. 8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays.
